Belfore Interim Inspection FAQs
An interim inspection is an inspection carried out during a tenancy to review the condition of the property. During this inspection, a property inventory clerk will check that the property is being looked after and look for any repairs or maintenance that might need to be carried out. They will also write up a report of their findings for the tenants and landlord.
During a property inspection, the property inventory clerk will be checking that the property is being looked after. They will examine the interior and exterior of the property and the garden area for damage, wear and tear and any repairs or maintenance that needs to be carried out.
Under the Housing Act 1988, landlords must give tenants 24 hours written notice before an inspection. If landlords do not comply with this, tenants have the right to refuse entry.
A final inspection of the property should be completed either on the day that tenants move out of within 48 hours of their moving out day. A record of the condition of the property must be made during this final inspection.
Landlords must pay for the check out report and process at the end of the tenancy. Once they have received and reviewed the check out report, the landlord can then initiate and request deductions from the tenant’s deposit.
A final inspection of the property should be completed either on the day or within 48 hours of the tenants moving out. The condition and contents of the property should be reviewed during this inspection and a report should be created to document the evidence collected.
